Experience

Sapta Yin began piano studies at the age of five with a local school piano instructor. At nine, she enrolled for studies at Alabama Music. After progressing, she transferred studies to Louise McCoy, a Faculty Assistant at UNA in Florence, Alabama. Under Louise's tutelage, Sapta's love for the art - as well as her technical abilities - deepened and matured.
From there, she entered the Eunice Hoffmeister Competitions in 2002 and 2003 earning Superior and Superior ++ in the Master Categories of Very Difficult I and Very Difficult II.
In 2003, she procured the position of Church pianist/harpist at Emmanuel Baptist in Florence, AL and held the position until she moved to Williamsburg in 2008.
She has also had the opportunity to play for the Alabama Governor, Senator, and celebrity Dean Jones (Herbie the LoveBug, and The Shaggy Dog). Her performance experiences range from Summer Breeze concert series, nursing homes, funerals, weddings, prayer breakfasts and special events/banquets.
She began instructing in piano theory and practice over 11 years ago at Alabama Music. There she taught a variety of ages ranging from seven to forty years old. Sapta relocated to Williamsburg, Virginia where she began teaching at Parker Piano outlet. She taught both private lessons for all ages and a group piano course for elementary children. She has since been teaching in house at student's homes and performing at various events throughout Williamsburg, VA.
